Everyday you will be challenged
PM General MANAGER (Empleado actual) - Myrtle Beach, SC - 7 agosto 2022
You can have a perfect shift plan but on most days you will be short employees. Most days you will have some equipment failures. You must find ways to still run the store at full pace and make money no matter what. Can be exciting sometimes. The sky is the limit but you will sacrifice a lot to get there.

Bad Management
Cook/Cashier (Empleado actual) - Charlotte, NC - 3 agosto 2022
If your not a high schooler an don’t plan on having life outside of work don’t work here they don’t care an everyone who works here is miserable an don’t care

Horrible lack of training
Line Cook (Empleado actual) - Forest City, NC - 1 agosto 2022
This was one of the worst jobs I've ever had in my life. Management does not care if you're medically sick people don't show up to work on time and lack of training towards any staff member talks about promoting and then take it back would never work for this restaurant ever again

Cashier (Antiguo empleado) - Suffolk, VA - 25 julio 2022
Fast paced, late hours sometimes, pay is alright, customers were mostly easy to deal with but there was a few times where they would be rude.

Fast pace with compensation
General Manager (Empleado actual) - Tennessee - 24 julio 2022
If you have a family don’t work here. As a GM I work 95-100 hours a week, never see my family and barely get time off. The money is great but make sure you double check because they will cut your check short if you don’t.
Pros
1 free meal a shift
Contras
No breaks, 13+ hr shifts, 80+ hours a week.

I love working for the company
Cashier/Prep Food (Antiguo empleado) - Winston-Salem, NC 28105 - 23 julio 2022
Like I was saying the one I work for they had a bunch of kids that didn't care they didn't that trash all the floor I constantly cleaned up behind them cost a couple dishes washed and there's very disrespectful as well as some of the managers they was on professional and it was just that location where they had what I worked at is this ridiculous but far as if you had the right people working it would be a better place in one location the way they do people meet on the ground I mean on the grill I apologize for saying that but the way they threw people meet on the grill the young males the way they will slamming cheese like playing with people food that was a very inappropriate and I didn't like working with that type of crowd

Most stressful job ever.
Cashier (Antiguo empleado) - Virginia Beach, VA - 22 julio 2022
Management and higher ups treat you horribly. Long hours not enough pay. Harassment in all forms. Not enough benefits.

This place will only get you as far as you honestly want to go
Crew Member (Antiguo empleado) - Salisbury, NC - 22 julio 2022
Depending on your background depending on who you are depending on how far you determine yourself to belong and your discipline and intentions behind while you are there will widely determine whether you will work this job for a long time or a short period of time
Pros
Opportunity to learn, 1 hours breaks
Contras
Work environment, night shift, high demand, low quality

Zero work-life balance, minimum benefits
Shift Manager (Antiguo empleado) - Blacksburg, VA - 20 julio 2022
Shift managers while I worked there were required to work 52+ hours a week. General manager of the store decides who works your shifts, so you better hope you and the GM are on good terms or your team is well trained (complete lottery). Expect many late night (4:30 PM to 5:30 AM at worst) closing shifts with extremely low staffing. At least once a week, shift managers will be scheduled to Close (leave at 5:30 AM) - Off day - Open (arrive at 7:00 AM, customers accepted AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE while you set up kitchen). This means you must try to reset your sleep schedule accordingly every single week.

Crew Member (Antiguo empleado) - Pooler, GA - 20 julio 2022
it was fun to work until they started bringing in management that didn’t care about work life balance or how they talk to you and constantly no help what so ever

Rewarding Money / Long hours
General Manager (Antiguo empleado) - Greenville, SC - 16 julio 2022
I met some of the best people (crew and higher ups) while working at cookout. I made the Most money I would ever have thought I could make as a General Manager. You can easily make six figures while working for cookout.

Manager (Antiguo empleado) - Mauldin, SC - 15 julio 2022
The pay is good for the work you do however unless you just like working fast food the job will suck the life out of you. People can be cool and make the job better though

Can be a great place to work if management has integrity and honesty
Customer Service, Cashiering (Antiguo empleado) - Spartanburg, SC - 14 julio 2022
Managers can be difficult to deal with. Managers has personal issues with an employee and they will make it difficult to work. Managers has favoritism towards workers. Managers are unprofessional to customers when something is wrong, don't handle customers complaints with importance.

Your crew members
Crew Trainer (Antiguo empleado) - Memphis, TN - 14 julio 2022
One thing I will say about my time at cook out is that your crew members will be with you for a life time. But the management there sucks their is one bad manager/GM after another.
Pros
You will get a good laugh
Contras
Horrible mangers and GM's

Was a great job while I was in high school and college
Cashier (Antiguo empleado) - Kinston, NC - 13 julio 2022
Fun environment, I enjoyed the people I worked with. I started my junior year in high school and I recently stopped working there this year due to going back to college and starting my internship. I really loved the weekly pay and the flexible schedule.
Pros
Flexible Schedule
Contras
Long hours

Don’t recommend.
Crew Member (Antiguo empleado) - Easley, SC - 12 julio 2022
I worked here for two years. Manger turnover rate is insane, there’s favoritism among management and if you’re not a favorite you’re going on the busiest drive through for all 8-12 hours of your shift. They don’t give you opportunities to learn new stations and management is immature. The manager I had when I quit refused to give me my check for days out of spite. The amount of trash talking is crazy and favorite coworkers could talk however they wanted to to anybody else. They could cuss you out in front of lobby and they wouldn’t get a slap on the hand. We couldn’t keep new people because they would quit after their first shift. You’re literally treated as if you owe the company your life. They don’t respect your schedule or your life outside of work, and many employees only care about the money. It’s a shark tank, nobody you work with is looking out for you. I learned almost every station and worked for years to get a mit position, just for it to be given to somebody else with less experience that had only been there a couple of months. And a lot of times late night kitchen employees would abandon their station and leave you to run kitchen and drive through alone. And if you’re actually doing your job, you’re still gonna get fussed at for something. None of the policies make sense either. It can be fun sometimes though.
Pros
Long breaks, some people are good, good hours
Contras
No employee protection, favoritism, management, work-life balance

Terrible leadership
Assistant General Manager (AGM) (Empleado actual) - Boiling Springs, SC - 12 julio 2022
Great company to work for, only if under the right leadership. South Carolina has a TERRIBLE market. Upper management does not care about their employees. They provide no opportunity for balance in life, and always expect more for less. Absolutely awful place to work until they replace the ones in charge.
