Buen ambiente laboral

Evaluación destacada de Indeed

La evaluación más útil según Indeed
Mi experiencia al laborar en Dollar General fue muy buena, aprendí el manejo de una tienda, además la relación con los compañeros fue buena, de compañerismo y trabajar en equipo.

Work schedule was flexible and convenient

Overall a good company to work for, my lower ratings were just because I was pregnant at the time and the previous manager had no consideration for my health or wellbeing and would expect me to perform tasks such as lifting heavy items or climbing stools.

Stressfull

Upper management was great to work with. You have a lot of autonomy. You are given way too much work to do the allotted time. It feels like you never accomplish your job for the day. Always behind. Never a sense of accomplishment. As a manager on salary, you are expected to cover when employees don't show for work, which can be a lot. Pay for hourly workers is poor, as are the benefits.

Pros

Good immediate bosses to work with. Not micro managed.

Contras

Never given enough time to complete a job. A fire drill every day.

Work-Life balance for the first month or two at the Distro Center

When you are new you won't work a lot of overtime because you are not required to for the first 30-60 days at the Distribution center, but eventually you will wonder where your life went. Corporate management is all about "new stores!!" but they can't get it through their heads that the DCs struggle to supply the stores they already have. Corporate doesn't currently supply the equipment needed to get done timely each week. And they try to stuff the warehouse with so much product that it further makes it difficult to finish a week timely. Of course they can't keep employees around long enough to finish the job so they just keep pushing and pushing whichever employees remain.

Over worked under paid

I was a SM with dollar general and the problem I had that even made me end up leaving was the truck..I could never get my store caught up or cleaned out it was very overwhelming and took away the time I needed to train my team !!!

Laughable

If you interview they will tell you they have great work life balance. I'm here to tell you they do not. Especially if you're a store manager. Unreasonable work demands. They want you to complete a million thing's a day, but you don't have the help nor the payroll hour's to get them completed.

It was good!

I loved my job when I worked at dollar general. But I quit bc the manager and the employees would talk behind my back. I’m sure if I had a different manager and different employees I would love my job

dollar general is meh

a typical day is usually understaffed and over busy with too much stock constantly being sent in that seems to just never be able to put away. management is not good to their employees unless you suck up to them. its not terribly hard work though when its slow. mostly just stocking stuff and standing around.

Contras

short breaks, work life balance is not great

Limited hours for employees to keep the store running smoothly

I have been a strong employee for this company for 6 years. You have to work hard and fast. I have trained cashier's that are now Managers! I make less money than cashier's at other retail stores and work twice as hard. I maintain all job requirements to keep the store running smoothly. I feel that I'm expendable with this company and it's time to move on to better opportunities.

Alright

We was without air for 3 weeks and they didn’t care, short staffed all the time, no shows, some managers are ok, not enough hours, they need to pay their employees better

Don’t trust anyone management/district mgrs

The company was all about keeping everyone with less hrs but work one person in mornings and afternoons during busy times. Didn’t care if customers stood in long lines. The customers were great. I loved them. Didn’t trust management at all. They said one thing and done another

Pros

Great customers

Contras

Bad management all around.

Stressful and Unfair Environment

Worked there for 2 months. I also had another job, which management was aware of. I worked my other job around DG. The schedule was changed last minute and manager refused to accept and said I was lying and if I didn't come I would be written up. Also expected a full days of work to be done in only a 4 hour shift while working the register. Not a good environment

Fast paced not for the weak

Overall great company so far. I’m about to get out of my probationary period so now I can apply for another position. Great pay. Decent benefits. Will pay for you to obtain a cdl so that’s my next step. Almost every position is graded on some sort of performance which is nearly impossible to meet. Just go to work with a good attitude every day and try your hardest and you’ll be rewarded for that.

The customers are the best part of my job

Been working for DG on and off since 2015, they don't care about you as a person! Pay is horrible especially for the workload you have to do! DG wants you to be flexible but don't value you as a person...they don't care that you have a family kids or anything else to do besides be there when they want you too! Most of the DG managers come to work and do nothing but smoke cigarettes and demand for you to do all the work

Few employees per store, bad management on all levels.

At DG, there is always supposed to be at least two people on shift at the same time. On the other hand, there are also only two maximum people on shift at the same time. It is a constantly reoccurring issue that upper management cuts the hours they give to stores, leaving one person on a shift alone for four to eight-plus hours by themselves. In doing so, they expect that single employee to run cash register, help customers, stock truck, clean, and watch for theft all by themselves. In addition to this, the maximum number of employees per store is less than 15, meaning less people to call if someone else calls off.Upper management will outright tell store managers that their employees are not worth the money they pay the employees, whether the store is best or worst in its district. Store managers make it difficult for normal employees to take vacation time and attempt to guilt employees out of taking their vacation time (only full time employees get paid vacation and benefits), likely due to the lack of total employees in the store. Attempting to push back for more employeesnor hours given to the store, or decent wages are all met with "send in a ticket" and never gets dealt with and tossed under the rug.All in all, Dollar General tries to understaff, overwork, and underpay its employees. The lax uniform requirement of a black tee shirt and any jeans may be a plus, but the toll it takes on a person is not.

Easy work but the worst company and management

Its very easy work, anybody can do it. The only problem is its the worst company because they could care less about there employees. The management is just straight trash.

Dissorganized

They hire too many people to give good hours. The store manger try's to work with you and is very fair. The organization of dollar general is a joke you'll always have no idea where something goes

Best job I’ve ever had

I love working at Dollar General, if I had to pick something I don’t like it would be the fact that they don’t give enough labor hours in the stores so the manager could work more than one person besides his or herself during the day or evening shifts. Lots more stocking and straightening of the store could be done if there was more than two people working per shift.

Pros

Work really well on your scheduling

Contras

Not enough labor hours
