Too many Reductions in Workforce

They are either moving work to India or letting people go, to hire younger and lower paid staff. No one is safe, your performance doesn’t matter. What was once one of the best companies to work for, is now meh.

Always evolving!

Keep you on your toes with all of the layoffs. But overall when you are employed with them they do take care of you. Like everywhere, it’s very dependent on your management team.

Large bureaucracy but can find pockets of excellence

Bad Management

In general IBM continues to promote bad people managers. Very easy to get a bad boss that doesn't understand basic people management skills. Very rate to get a good manager.

Laid back

Very poor management. It's a cheat shop. People use all kind of clever tactics. Leaders are just relaxing and no hunger tobdo something great. Just waiting for the salary.

Large company with Good Opportunities for Diverse Work... If You're Lucky

IBM is a large company, which can either mean ample potential for growth and learning, or it can mean getting lost in a sea of resources. I work within the consulting arm, and most of my projects have been short of exciting. There were 1 or 2 assignments that really stood out and truly helped to advance my career; it was just luck of the draw. If you're lucky, you'll eventually carve out a good network that will support and promote your career goals. Overall, the company culture is my biggest pain-point. Employees are shifted around from project to project. This results in a lack of strong team culture on projects because most folks understand that their current assignment is temporary, or their coworkers on that assignment are temporary. This creates a culture of practitioners always looking ahead at what's next, putting a lower priority on developing strong ties with current team members.

Non-competitive tech company

Pros· Classic tech company amenities: free coffee, snacks, drinks.· The majority of coworkers are nice and friendly. · Huge bell curve. Top engineers there are brilliant, but the worst ones are unmotivated and coasting. Average engineer is nothing to sneeze at.· Looking to coast? Good place to do it. People could wfh whenever.· There are opportunities to work hard.Cons· Pay is not competitive for the location.· Bad apples. While they exist in every workplace, their existence speaks to the company's culture and behavioral hiring bar. Highly would not recommend working here if you are a minority in tech such as a woman. · Management lacks structure with task assignments and does not keep promises. · Lack of formal structure. Despite being a big company, absolutely no structure for anything except for the bare minimum. No way to keep track of tasks.· Mediocre engineering standards. Not much of a formal code review process and poor code quality.· Non-competitive pay for location. Cannot retain talent.

Falta de Respeito no Processo de Seleçao

Um Departamento de Rh Setor de Recrutamento e Seleçao inabil, incompetente, despreparado e que não respeita candidato, não tem nenhum telefone de contato para duvidas e principalmente não concede oportunidade para questionar algo. Empresa de vagabundos, pilantras, canalhas, sacanas.

You want to stay away from IBM

Simply could be the worst company and leadership on the planet!Not employee friendly and will continue to pound employees into the ground until they quit. Then they backfill with overseas contractors!

Een beetje dubbel...

Je hebt de mogelijkheid om veel te leren, maar dit is een typisch Amerikaans bedrijf : je bent maar zo goed als je laatste kwartaal... Management dient enkel om de strategie van US door te drukken, en houdt geen rekening met verzuchtingen van het personeel. Ja, mogelijkheden tot zeer goed salaris, maar heel vaak onrealistische targets. Er wordt enkel gefunctioneerd vanuit een US optiek. Er wordt geen rekening gehouden met geo-politiek (EU). Ja, heel toffe collega's. Allemaal zeer gedreven om het beste van zichzelf te geven.

Very unethical management

The working people were smart and great people to work with. Management however was unethical and would throw their own people under a bus to make a dollar.

Great company but poor leadership

IBM is a great company with competitive pay and plenty of benefits. However, your experience is entirely dictated by the management you align to. Majority of IBM's leadership is promoted based on internal politics and not reflective of performance. For example, an employee who puts on a show for leadership will be promoted over the individuals responsible for executing the work. If by some fluke, a poor performer is identified, they will never be let go so you will continue to work with them though leadership is well aware of their detriment to the team. The good news, you will only have to work with them for a year until IBM does a reorg. and you are assigned a new team/project. Once you ignore the individuals described above, you will meet some amazing IBMers whose work will inspire and push you to grow!

Don’t Do It

Really awful culture that is incompetent from the top. Leadership badly mistreats new hires as they see as threats because IBM is known to lay-off employees who are 40+.

IBM is not what it used to be

I like to think back fondly of my time at IBM. I met and are still friends with many great people. The company itself has lacked direction recently and will always always look to cut costs.
