Too much work for the $$

Nice managers. A couple snarky co-workers. They keep cutting hours & hiring too many people. Can’t make a living off of it. Lots of side work & tips are ok but not sustainable.

amazing people to work with and amazing managers. you learn a lot.Can also be very stressful but can get better if your working with a amazing team. Pay is also decent

The good and the bad

This is a chain restaurant despite being fine/casual dining, employees come and go all the time, therefore managers won't really appreciate you no matter how good of a hardworking person you are, however it can be a good place to make money even if you have no experience.

Company and coworkers are amazing. Management is sub par.

I’ve worked at Longhorn for almost a year and I can say that it is very much like a family. The culture and environment is encouraging and I feel excited and energized when I come into work every day. The management is its sole and biggest downfall. The current MP is was not ready or prepared to become a manager, let alone MP, and is very vindictive and immature. Management communicates very poorly, and you cannot expect to move up very quickly as they will decide that instead of staffing your position further so you can do the job that you want to do and are capable of, they would rather overwork you and make you take on that specific role for however long they can keep you on it until you threaten to quit. The only times I’ve seen genuine advancement during times of poor staffing on the managers part is when a strong and capable worker put their two weeks notice in and then was suddenly put into the position they want. Immaturity and personal issues effect management more than they do most of the newer staff which is frankly very embarrassing. For the culture, family aspect, and respect I receive from my coworkers I will continue to enjoy working with Longhorn. The poor management is not enough to make me want to leave, but it has had me tempted to quit very frequently in the past, and has been directly responsible for some very impressive and hard-working servers ultimately leaving the company.

Good place to make money, and just have to roll with the punches.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?Clock in. Take tables. Keep up with assigned side work. Clean and roll silverware.

Busy over all but a polite workplace

What is the best part of working at the company?There actually interact with there employees if thay have personal issues. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Just when they have a packed night were it's so busy. But they put in team work to help one another pull threw there shift. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Free spirited and layed back friendly people and at times it's calming What is a typical day like for you at the company?Friendly people to interact with wile there's a different story with different guests.

Going downhill

It was a great place to work before the managers changed. Now it has become a stress inducing, toxic environment. The only good thing about the place is the people who work there, and a lot of the good ones left.

Good money, wild environment

You will make money, only bc of volume.No gratuity on lg parties allowed, you will get stiffed. Triple seated, push out wrong food, managers give customers free food while you get no tip. The steaks aren’t temp checked, the side items are forgotten, and side work is always behind.But, you will make money.

Pass it up

Management cares about nothing at all. Do not recommend anyone apply here. They will overwork you and you will not have a single thing to show for it. Guests make the job even worse

Love the food

Enjoyed working here, but didn’t enjoy management. Darden is a good company as well. If you do your job. Well, you should have no problem. But of course you can’t predict your day with the guests that come in.

Favoritism

Favoritism, managers having relationships with employees, promises to move up in thr company but even if you keep asking, nothing will happen. Rude management, rude servers and unorganized

Productive and fun workplace

It is very fast paced during the winter months. It can be slow during summer but not usually on the weekends. There is potential to make a living working here.

Not enough money for the work done

Side work is extensive, there is extreme favoritism among staff and people that have worked there for a long time get away with everything while newcomers are stuck with all the heavy lifting. Decent money but could probably do better elsewhere. Not a horrible starter serving job but it’s a chain so there’s lots of other rules.

Good company

When it comes to corporate restaurants, Darden (Longhorn) is the best. Great training, overall good staff. Covid changed the way the world works, Guest behavior can be terrible and other managers work ethic can be challenging.

Veteran new hires are taken advantage of by making them work hard by promising quick advancement, but NEVER FOLLOWING THROUGH on those promises

I have over 20 years. Experience as a server in the hospitality industry though when I was hired at the Bradenton Florida location. I was asked to be a server assistant/host for a week or 2 to see how I did but after 4 weeks I was Not given a promotion to server status and was STUCK as a server assistant.The worst part was that I was continuously "teased" with promotion but was always given a reason. Why I needed just 1 or 2 more weeks of training before I could become a server there. Eventually the covid-19 Shut down came along and I was done with that restaurant and I would never ever go back to that location because of the horrible treatment I was shown. What made it worse was that Other employees treated me like terribly because they saw how management was treating me.

Face paced

Money is good. Management will overwork you. Long hours with no breaks often. The mentality there is guest is always right so that can get annoying at times

What is the best part of working at the company?The coworkers. Management is childish and petty. The restaurant is dirty and unorganized. Cooks are inexperienced. Managers are big time liars also. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Management is very bad!! They are rude. They lie. They are condescending when they speak to employees and they use threats to make people do things they shouldn’t be doing. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Stressful. Everyday there is something wrong, missing or broken that we had to work around What is a typical day like for you at the company?Stressful. Long ticket times. Managers in the expo window that still send out food that’s made incorrectly and the guests take it out on the servers.

Can be fun

The restaurant culture varies from store to store. Loved most of the stores I worked in. Tennessee stores are the worst! Especially the suburbs of Nashville.
