Employees are great people, collaborative and innovative.

Best part of Lubrizol is the people. Many recent changes have occurred which is impacting the culture. hoping it will subside as the new leadership settles in.

Good company in an evolving/shrinking industry

Overall a good company, with decent pay, job security and work/life balance. With changes in the automotive industry and overall environmental challenges in the chemical industry, it feels like the business has its best years behind it. That said, it’s large and diverse enough to still be around for a long time.

Used to be a good company to work for. Cultural and management has recently changed that vibe.

Used the be a great place to work with positive CEO input. Latest CEO is taking away a promised Flex Work schedule to allow a more balanced work-life ratio. Employees are being forced back to 5 days a week in office. Lubrizol employees have proved over the course of COVID that a work life balance is not only needed, but can successfully occur. Many are leaving the company due to the 5 day in office work plan. Lubrizol will be one of a few companies forcing employees to a 5 day a week work life with no flexibility. The company is actually heading backwards as opposed to forward.

New Management Reversing Flex policy and Work Life Balance. Not a good place to work in today's environment.

Was a good place to work until new management. Completely reversed flex and remote work policy. Everyone being told to come back to office 5 days per week while pandemic numbers continue to rise. Some employees being relocated for no reason to a less desirable work environment and will now have a much longer commute. Company leadership doesn't seem to care about employees and work/life balance. During Covid most companies learned employees can be just as productive working remotely. Work should no longer be a place you go but instead a thing you do. Progressive and forward thinking companies get that...Lubrizol does not. They are going backward. New management has placed safety as the company's number one priority...which is great...however, that doesn't seem to include employee health. Employees being asked to return to the office while Covid is still going strong.

Great co-workers and good compensation/benefits, Managers supportive, Opportunity for advancement, Fun company events in summer volunteer opportunities.

Contras

Reversal of flex time and remote work policy which is bad for work/life balance, Health safety of employees not being taken into consideration.

Good for experience but not long term employment.

Great place to gain experience but there is zero accountability with management from direct supervision to the plant manager. All raises and promotions are based purely on nepotism and not on merit or ability. This company had great fringe benefits but year after year they were continually taken away to the point anyone with talent and skill has left. This is a great place to work if you are young and need experience in the chemical industry but I wouldn't make it a career.

Good Company with Some Room for Improvement

Overall, it is a very good company to work for. Very secure, professional culture.However, advancement can be challenging as the businesses are vert different and very silo'd. Also, climbing the compensation ladder can be rough because what you get with moving up is based on where you are/were more than what the job your moving to should pay, so if you hire in low, you're behind the 8 ball your whole career there. They often pay external candidates more than what they will pay an accomplished well reviewed employee for the same job. That being said, if you get an offer you find fair, I would not hesitate to take the position.

Extremely interesting and challenging work with great personal awards.

International oilfield project management dealing with corrosion and asset integrity engineering issues in association with the design and implementation of chemical treatment programs. I managed various responsibilities in my previous Corrosion Engineering and Project Management position and quickly established talents in prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines and finding solutions to eliminate obstacles. My experience has enabled me to develop and establish skills in such key areas:• Reviewing and Conducting Engineering Assessments• Developing and Implementing PIM and POM Systems• Conducting and Maintaining Pipeline Risk Assessments• Designing and Monitoring Asset Integrity ProgramsI am grateful for the opportunities afforded me in my prior position, and enjoyed the new challenges of collaborating with a multicultural team of talented professionals.

Long time management is running for the hills

All of the management is being replaced by corprate with people that have never worked in anything but an office. People are quitting by the truck load and they don't replace them, just divide the work amongst the staff that is still hanging on. All good perks have been taken away (3 twelve hour days, pension, morale, adequate staffing.) They are not interested in paying any more than fast food wages for a place that is extremely dangerous to work at

Under new management - times are rough

New management is cutting benefits left and right. Tons of people are leaving for better work life balance and benefits or retiring. New management expects you to work holidays and weekends for non-emergency tasks. The safety improvements they are making are needed, but they don't understand that a safe work environment isn't enough to attract employees and that people are looking for pay and benefits. They are not interested in being competitive with other companies compensation packages.

Not the same

Used to be a most wanted company to work for. Wrong people are running the company. No appreciation or recognition for working hard. High expectations. Keep removing the perks and then wonder why morale is low. Lots of the long timers are leaving. Good for them but they are taking a lot of knowledge and experience with them.

Great co workers

Co workers were great management not. The work shift was 12hr/ e days a week. There is some overtime available, but usually goes to those with seniority.

I did not enjoy working there. It was a company that did not think of their employees. It was a very stressful environment and it was not fun to work there.

Keep Your Head Down

People are leaving left and right due to Berkshire Hathaway kicking out the CEO after - a small fire in France, a plant total loss near Chicago, and a ERP fiasco. There are mentions of promoting from within corporate wide, but time after time, mid-level/senior jobs are being filled externally. There are a large number of people retiring (congrats for them!). If you are an intern here (and you stay post graduation) you fast track, otherwise, moving is a struggle. Would not recommend to anyone looking to be happy at work.

Still a good employer

Lubrizol used to be many NE Ohioans' ideal employer, but today many are looking for a way out. The root of the company's current problems is that there are countless unnecessary layers of middle-management, which are often filled with people with strong technical backgrounds and limited social skills. The company in general is still filled with very intelligent, caring, and hard-working people.

Good benefits but not so great management

Lubrizol itself would probably be a better place to work if the Management utilized it's people where they were good. I was happy doing my job and doing it well when my foreman got an attitude with a certain part of management and I got pulled from one part of the plant to another because of their tug of war. The crew I worked with was good and the office people were very nice.
