No Fue Lo Que Esperaba

Pros

Almuerzo, Pago, Horario Flexible

Contras

Competitivo, Ambiente Tóxico, Pocas Horas.

Good first job

A work day typically included checking people out, answered questions on prices and setup/tidied up displays. It was a nice place to work for a first job.

Busy Work Need Support

There is always something to do. Never enough associates scheduled to keep up with customers and recovery. Management is so-so. Middle management is spread thin and not always supportive when necessary. Upper management is terrible. ZERO care for employee needs to get all expected work accomplished, has personal agenda, acts as if above rest of store, belittling, aloof, rude, inappropriate. Top management has no leadership abilities making for a hostile work environment on the rare occasions they leave their office to survey and critique the floor.

Good starting job

The job was okay, morning hours which was nice at times, opportunities for longer work days up to 40 hour weeks, but had some slow periods during other times which left you with limited hours

Always productive, Fast pace

As someone who is a little shy, this was the perfect role for me. I loved working "behind the scenes" to fulfill online orders. During the holidays, it gets crazy busy but it meant we were always productive. This would be the best job for you if you like working at a fast pace.

Great job for advancing

Started as an hourly employee. Then moved into Store Department manger within a year. Became a salaried District employee within two years. If you put the work in, they will notice and move you up quickly!!

Do not recommend

Pros: teaches you to be proactive and builds business acumen, generous vacation time Cons: no work/life balance unless you have scheduled vacation time. Salaried position means you will work 10-12 hour days and managers work 6 days a week from thanksgiving through Christmas. You do need to comb through reporting on your own to understand how your business is performing, no one will help you with that. Never enough associates in your department to help customers or maintain standards. Associates are paid poorly and the commission structure for them does not leave a lot of incentive to truly care.

Treat you like a robot and unfair pay

When I started beauty merchandising they just threw me in there with no training. This was my first job at retail and I never had much support. Management gets frustrated when I don’t know how to do something although I was never trained. They will ask me to do things outside of my job description a lot because they won’t hire more people and that takes me away from my main job then others get frustrated with me because now I’m behind. Lots of petty dramas within the cosmos and everyone wants to quit or already is already on the way to quit. Boss is heartless when it comes to personal emergencies and all they care about is your reliability and when you will be back. Very unorganized and unprofessional. Lots of hard work, multiple people demanding things because you are not tied to a counter and you are seen as the help. I do not make enough for this pressure and I dread coming into work. Hours are good I work 40 hour weeks and consistent but never have consecutive days off and they are always random. Sometimes they schedule me 7 days in a row but when I complain about it they still won’t do anything so then I have to call out because I’m so exhausted.

Pros

College programs, paid 2. 15 minute breaks

Contras

Management, boss, outside job description, no training, low pay

Repetitive work

Season work is nothing out of the ordinary. Be prepared to be overworked and tired after every shift. I don’t think there’s much else to mention, they are extremely attentive to when you clock in and out as well.

Its ok

Its not a bad place to work especially if you love makeup. The pay is the lowest in the industry. I was a counter manager and McDonald's pays better. And expect that you will definitely be micromanaged. Other than that it was not so bad. I had a lot of great coworkers and customers were friendly.

Messy management and low pay

Macys is a great name to have on the resume and will definitely open doors for you. But for the level of work you’re required to do in any operations role at the company, the pay is way below average. Most starting business analyst positions start at $80k, meanwhile managers who have worked there for years don’t even break $100k. Messy management that will move you around at freewill with little to no discussion beforehand. Unstable and stressful too: when the economy is rough retail takes the biggest hit.

Great company but Slow decision making

Pro:Great company and benefits . People are the best in the industry . Highly diverse culture . Cons: Slow to embrace change . Decisions take forever and require a 75 page PowerPoint . Need new people with new idea and ways of working ,

Overall rewarding experience

I was at this Macy's location for 5 years. It was rewarding for me because I was able to develop many skills as it was my first job. The management could be better, but that's due to the Store Manager.

Very easy work

Macy’s is a very easy place to work. They work around your schedule if needed. Holidays you get a lot of hours but after that it slows down. Everyone is very helpful as long as you’re willing to ask for help.

Flexible and Productive

We would get the orders done fairly quick and the team was very hardworking. Was easy to drop and add shifts. A great job for students. I learned the fulfillment process and the management style of this company.

Stressful

They want you to push customers to open macys card. They will stress you out with loyalty. Too many managers are constantly watching you. Their commission is a joke

Not the place for me

I hate working there. They don't pay you enough, the managers don't really care about you or your time. All the managers seem to care about is you selling Macy's cards to people and so annoying

Fun, and good place to grow

If you want to grow with the company, this is the job for you. If you work hard, it will pay it off. Holidays are always busy and fun working here as you see lots of people.

enjoying working together as a team in order to accomplish the company goals.

It is a busy workplace in my section, which I am happy with it. I have learned fulfillment works at this company.I like the leadership style in this company. However, it will be great for the management to consider taking some new ideas from junior employees which brings more productivity and efficiency to daily work for customer satisfaction and hence increased revenue.

Pros

education benefits

Contras

delayed or no career growth.
