I tried to do my job well as much as I could. I had no problem with my coworker. I tried to do best everything that my manager asked me. I didn't have much fun, but it wasn't bad.

Good managers care about the employees a lot

It was great. Very kind management. Always made sure we took our paid breaks and interesting scheduling system with the option to post or pick up extra shifts.

blatant nepotism

Hours regularly cut, too much work for too little pay, a severe understaffing issue is obvious when you try to line up, and there is only one cashier present.

What i expected

Enjoyed my time at macys during college. I had a really cool manager and she really does care about her workers. Looking back the pay wasnt really that good but the job wasnt hard and i enjoyed working with my co workers

I'm just thankful that I have the opportunity to broaden my social skills to learn how to be impartial when dealing with customers.

Typical work day is dealing with different customers and numerous different personalities you know it allows me to become familiar with people and to learn how to cope with other people's needs. And to be impossible when it comes to customers because some people are rude and arrogant and then there are others that are supportive and kind so you have to learn how to balance your work day not based on just the customer being a customer, but reading their personalities and their traits so that you can identify with each person differently than the next it helps to improve my social skills

Sometimes they make you feel like you are expendable.

Very keen on listening to the employees with an open door policy. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Busy but not overwhelming, making sure I am customer involved and maintaining a neat and welcoming selling floor during slow periods.

Fun work place

I love my job. My co-workers and managers/supervisors are nice and they teach the tricks of the trade well so that associates could work behind the registers confidently and independently.You will learn to do cashiering, go-backs, and clean up fitting rooms regularly.

good part time pay work

great place if one's looking for a part time job, especially for students. the work load is fairly light and the management is pretty relaxed. pay is bit low but great work environment and friendly peers.

Good place to work

This was a good place to work. They were pretty flexible with my hours and coworkers were friendly for the most part. The discount is also a plus for working here.

Too many managers

Too many managers for one store making it very disorganized. One manager in particular is very rude. Training is not helpful at all it would be much better to do hands on rather than on computer simulator.

Fast-paced

Super fast-paced; it can be fun at first but it soon gets overwhelming as you may be required to cover registers, fitting rooms, and the sales floor by yourself

Fun workplace, very fast paced

Everyone are very nice and extremely helpful when it comes to needing help with anything. Macy’s is a very very VERY fast paced environment especially on the weekends. There were times I worked a whole shift with no break sometimes with no lunch and I was pregnant while working there. It sounds bad but I promise it wasn’t I just was an extremely hard worker so I didn’t mind sometimes not taking one. Even then I still had all the help I needed even employees from different floors would come help out and vice versa. Overall I really enjoyed working there the pay just isn’t enough for me for the amount of work you have to put in everyday with staff and customers.

That’s it’s got a lot of people wanting to get into the beauty business just starting off

I worked at two different locations and it was a long commute, the HR and other associates were all very stuck up and haughty towards me. But Macys had been my dream job to work for Estée Lauder Company’s. The pay wasn’t enough versus the drive I had to make everyday.

They should have a Macys in more towns . Instead of closing them down

Would not recommend working here.

I worked in the receiving department for over 2.5 years and this was not a pleasant experience.Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I only stayed because of location and time requirements. In this area you are continuously busy and do all the grunt work for the rest of the store including the retail workers. You bust your butt and when you go out to the sales floor you see most retail workers standing around doing nothing but talking to each other. I asked for a raise due to this disparity and was basically responded to with a laugh.

Rude customers. Children destroying clothes. Hourly pay very low. Benefits aren't good. Stressed about opening cards every week. On your feet the whole shift. Bad break time.

Productive and comfortable place to work.

At Macy’s, the working environment is very comfortable due to coworkers helping each other constantly. Managers earn a big plus for the encouragement that they give out to every colleague.
