If you wish to see my review on this workplace. I have posted one that is essentially a review for Tom's also. As my work for Tom's was through a staffing agency. Short and simple however. Terrible. Incompetent management and workers for the majority. Most of the management were basically kids. They would argue on the work floor. They would be sorely unprepared. Often times they relied on their workers to know their job for them. One of the supervisors would actually start crying because the machines weren't working and she would often disappear for great lengths of time. Another would be angry the entire time of work and be unpleasant to be around as a whole.

Compensation is good. Work is busy, but fun!

Worked as a finishing tech for a few years. Loved it. This is a place where if you are willing to put in the effort, it will pay off. They will pay for you to go to college if you want to.Excellent pay. Even better benefits. Great company and great people.

Great pay. Good people!

I have been working at Toms of Maine for 6 years. I love my job. The people are great and the benefits and compensation are very good.When hired you get 15 days of vacation the day you're hired. Men and Women get 8 weeks of paid parental leave.You get paid to volunteer up to 12 days a year.The environment is great. The plant is small. We all know each other. If you're willing to work hard, the sky is the limit. I have watched peers come in as entry-level operators and end up on the leadership team.

Consistent pay and your job is secure if you follow rules.

Not a hard place to work and has pretty good benefits. Free lunches every once in a while but no room for advancement at all unless you have a bachelor's degree in any subject.

Everyone in the same position has the same compensation regardless of experience, performance or in job knowledge and training, No room for advancement at all if you don't have a 4 year degree, Any bachelor's will do, doesn't matter the field of study.

Run Away,Far Away

STAY AWAY! Equipment is mickey-moused and doesn't work well. Been over-ordering supplies for months and the warehouse is above 175% capacity which means stuff is stuck everywhere including in the way of any work going on. Management is inept at best. Proven cancers in the workforce are left in place to make false accusations and cause more problems. They say "Manage with Respect" but that is not something that is practiced here. They lie to you during the interview and then once you're there a few months,you watch the good people and good workers leave due to the incompetence and toxic work environment. Don't come here.

Poorly ran comapny mechanics where ran left and right 2nd shift mechanic would find them selfs working 3rd also so working doubles often very toxic environment lot people would be forced to stay over and if you just left it would be shunned long story short pay was very decent for a mechanic but you worked ur but for it and it was a toxic in environment some days where good mostly where bad

Huge Problems Here

Place suffers from poor attitude of veteran employees in production and that is just for starters! Get rid of the cancer. Saw over 10 temps leave in 2 months. Glad they saw the light. Had a situation where I was stuck for over 3 hours at a station. Fellow worker spotted me to get a drink. Get to water bubbler. Out of cups! 90 degrees plus in there.Unbelievable! Supervisors out to lunch! The digital clock on the wall representing units produced was above all. Product before people. Run! Smoothies and fancy break rooms don't cut it. Compounded by a plant manager who will not recognize a Good morning or a Good afternoon when you walk by him. Let alone recognize a 30 year staff member with a lame round of applause followed by a PowerPoint presentation. Where's the cake! Who cares about the numbers......let's celebrate that 30 year guy. Pathetic! Don't bellyache about your labor challenges, they all just walked....

it was not all that good there

it was not all that good there the people are all negitive there and poor managment all there mashians are always down and your allways standing around doing nothing for hours at a time while the people try fix them and they make you stay and most time they never get them up an running that day so you stand around getting paid to do nothing

productive workplace with fun caring boss

go to work learn the days schedule do stretches go out on the floor prep for the the production line setup pallet make sure labels are correct and match the paperwork take tubes put them in the boxes send them down the line to labeled and put in master cases that get taped and printed with barcodes then palletize on the pallet

goood pay, need better full time employees that want to work

1 hour meeting go to station,lots of down time a lot of people standing around. learned what not to do..management good people its the full time employees think we are there to serve them,and they get all the benefits, if they do not like u they get rid of you. people do not care if product is wrong make u feel like u have to stay longer than tenh ours,or they make you feel like u have to. all the down time was the hardest part of the job, 12 an hour was the best part.

Everyday you show up their is another problem to figure out and every shift always has a excuse on why they didn't work or do anything for the day and you will have to clean everything and fix it.

Love my job at Tom's!

Tom's is the best job I've ever had. Within a year my pay has increased almost $4 an hour. The job is busy and you have to pay attention. It is physically demanding, but I enjoy that. If you are looking for a job that allows you to come and hang out without working hard, this is not it. The company's benefits are extremely good and there is a company Store that gives employees a chance to purchase deeply discounted(also some free) items. The day you are hired you get 15 vacation days. Also paid sick time and up to twelve days that the company will pay you to volunteer in your community.

treats temp workers poorly

Tom's of Maine is owned by Colgate and so has to follow the corporate rules, including hiring temp workers as to avoid paying for benefits and proper pay.

A great place to work and you can play ping pong during break

A great place to work. The management team is attentive and will listen to any issues you may have including personal. The work environment is great and enthusiastic. The work force at Tom's is a tight group of people who work well together to achieve their goals.

Very bad management

This is a growing company that can not find adequate employees to do the very physical and mentally demanding job. Most of the work load falls on the handfull of employees that do 90 percent of the work. There isot of conflict with crews that do not mesh well toghter and very poor management that knows how to settle it. It's a very production driven numbers game that conflicts with the quality end of it. Paperwork and demands change on a daily basis. All this with the stress of no family life. This company has been working a 6 day work week for 15 months straight with always the promise it will end soon. Good luck to anyone who attempts this you will need it

Good pay, good benefits but..

The pay is really good and the benefits they advertise are great but they don't tell you how to get most of them. The work is fairly easy to catch on to, just have to be quick on your feet and pay close attention to everything you do. I loved the pay but be prepared to never satisfy management. The people in management are great people, just no one has any idea of how long everything should take which makes things tough when you're giving it all you got and they're still wondering why you're not further ahead. Honestly wish that I was on first shift. If I were then I probably would have stayed. No matter how good of a person you are, no matter how hard you try, some of the people there are just plain rotten. Great pay though.
